The establishment of Landour was first began by the British Army as per some earlier data. It goes back to as far as 1827 in numbers. It was especially a town for the military purpose which is why a huge part of Landour is Cantonment.

Landour is the most popular for its architecture that is built in the colonial style. As it is located on a very high altitude, people get to view the great Himalayan mountains from here. The ecosystem of Landour is another reason to visit the place. It attracts tourists and travellers from different regions to visit the place.
