Something amazing happens in the winter months in Mussoorie, India. It’s a special kind of natural phenomenon that only happens in a few places, mostly just two places in the world, Mussoorie being one of them.

When the sun sets in the western horizon, it transforms to a range of hues including mauve, orange, red, and yellow from mid-October to January. This is known as a Winterline. It is limited to a region of Switzerland and Mussoorie. The sun disappears behind a fake horizon that is made up of a mauve and grey strip with a strong orange and yellow line at the top. The sun’s refraction at a particular angle causes winterline, which is only seen from hilly areas with a long, open valley to the west. One of the planet’s most peculiar phenomenon is the production of winterline, which is unique to Mussoorie, India, and the highlands of the Alps in Switzerland. The phenomena may be observed also in many smaller spots throughout the Himalayas and the Swiss Alps. For a better view of the winterline, you can also go to Mall Road and the George Everest summit.
Also, Mussoorie Waterline Carnival is organized. The event is triumphantly returning to raise awareness of this unique natural phenomena after being absent for almost two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s usually observed in the last week of December. During this festival, the beauty of Uttrakhand’s cultures, customs, and artwork can be appreciated. Heritage walks, nature treks, stargazing, bungee jumping, paragliding, and puppet shows are just a few of the numerous carnival events scheduled. Here, you may enjoy delicious food, cheery music, winter sports, etc. For this reason, you should visit this carnival at least once to appreciate its magnificence.

WHEN TO VISIT?
The best months to witness this rare phenomena are October through January, as it only occurs throughout the winter. The Winter Line forms just around sunset, hence it is impossible to pinpoint the exact time to see this phenomena.
