Chandrashila is kind of a final destination present above the Tungnath temple. The term simply means ‘moon rock’. A beautiful and very wonderful fact about Chandrashila is that the peak of this place provides a majestic view of the Himalayas. Other peak points include the Nandadevi, Trisul, Kedar Peak and Bandarpunch.

History:

As per some historical data, people believe that Lord Rama meditated at this place for a long time after defeating the Sri-Lankan demon-king Ravana. Other aspect of historical data also says that the moon god spent a lot of time here in penance. While different folklores and legendary times narrate different scenarios about the place, one thing is for sure that the visitor will find here- peace.
