The village is known as “Corn Village” because to the large number of cornfields that characterized its surroundings. A large gate with corn themes greets visitors to Sainji, signifying the importance of grain in the community. In this instance, corn becomes more than just a crop; it takes on the role of an artistic medium, meticulously decorating buildings and houses with designs. “The corn village” Sainji is located in the Jaunsar block of the Tehri Garhwal district, 5 kilometers from the well-known “Kempty fall” in Mussoorie. They go by the name “Jaunsari” and like marketing the term “corn village” and “Jaunsar culture.” It also serves as a tourist destination.

There are around 40 to 50 families living there, and they maintain the village beautifully, nurturing their jaunsari culture and showing guests respect, all of which add to the community’s remarkable qualities. The small town is made lovelier by the people’s unity, culture, dancing, traditional attire, and good morals. ‘Tandi’ and ‘dhol damau’, two group jaunsari dances performed during festivals and marriage, are entertaining to watch. Their custom of having two or three family weddings on the same day and celebrating Diwali a month later is quite appealing and unique. Corn village is 50 kilometres away from Dehradun. The best time to visit Mussoorie in this beautiful village is during September and October as it is the harvest season.If this is your first time visiting the village, be ready to experience an overwhelming amount of love and kindness. How to Reach?
This village is located in the Tehri Garhwal area, about 5 kilometers from the Kempty Falls, a great weekend escape from Mussoorie. Mussoorie, in Uttarakhand, is reachable by air from any location in India. You may take a taxi or rent a car to get to Sainji village when you get at the falls. Also, you have access to public transportation like buses. It is located quite a distance from Yamunotri’s major road. The people in this community have access to clean water because of a little canal that runs through it.
